Question:

Do I have to sleep with 8 lb weight blanket?

It -4 degrees outside right now and our heater doesnt workWe have a digital thermostat and it reads that its 38 degrees inside right nowSo to which everyone is under the blankets but meI actually enjoy this type of temp without a weight blanket placed on meBut my sister who argues back says I really have to wear the weight blanket cause the weight blanket will keep me comforting and protected from the cold temp like this and can make me really sick if I dont use one she impliesIs this true? Will I weaken my immune system or get myself sick from sleeping in the cold for too long? Do i have to wear the weight blanket?

Answer:

With hydraulics, the piston is the most efficient approachYou can use a screw type devicebut you would have to find some way to turn the screw, such as an electric motorYou can also use a lever and fulcrumThe lever would have to be pretty long.
It is the simplest and most effective solutionIt gives a powerful, directed forceYou could use a membrane or a bag that you pump full of waterThese are often used in the open where a portable lift is needed, say at accidents, but are not as stable or as powerful as a hydraulic piston and barrel, because they cannot take the same level of pressure.
You do need to maintain your body's core temperatureIn the cold, the body can't maintain the correct temperature without some protectionYou need to stay warmHowever, you may not need a heavy blanket to do thatSeveral layers of clothing and thinner blanket would probably work just as goodIn fact, dressing in layers is what is recommended to stay warm when in cold temps(several thin layers is actually better than one really thick layer.) Be sure to cover up when you sleep since body temperature drops a little while sleeping anyway Hope your heat gets fixed soon.
