Question:

Do I need a new car stereo wiring harness?

I currently have a Pioneer after market head unit. (I don't have subs or amps or anything.) It was installed with the proper wiring harness. I am going to replace it with a newer Pioneer model. Will my old harness still work fine? The old head unit is about 7 years old and has a lot of the features newer units have now (MP3 capability, satellite radio, etc.)

Answer:

No, there will be something that comes with your new head unit that you attach to the wiring harness, just take the one to your old pioneer off (Your wiring harness is specific for your car, not your head unit)
Whatever you do, don't do this: My harness didn't fit and the bottom of the dash had been ripped due to my og stereo being stolen, so I used tar to lay the new stereo in there. Worked great while it was cold. But on the first hot day, the tar would melt and the radio would sag and you couldn't change the channel without getting gooey tar on your fingers.
