I have the entire engine apart and ready for rebuild, but i dont know if im supposed to use sealant on the caseI remember there was when i split the case but what kind and how much would i use?
insulation is the best way to keep your home comfortable during the seasons at handadding insulation to your attic is a real good way to keep the heat in, be sure you vent your attic and be sure your installing the insulation without the moisture barrieras for your walls, you do not, let me be clear.DO NOT have to gut your home to insulate your wallsyou can foam them or use a blown in cellulose to really make a differancewindows are real important, the proper installation of the windows must be, otherwise you could feel a breeze coming from the windowslts not forget your doors also best of luck
I would put vapor barrier around the outside of the house, then 1/2 hard foam insulation, then new vinyl siding over thatwindows are the key if you arent going to go the whole 9 yards, thats where you'll lose the most heat
There is alot you can do with your homeDepending on what kind of siding you have you can have a cellulose insulation contractor come and they can drill under siding and fill the cavities with blown in cellulosethey fill the holes with a tapered plug the same size they drilledfor the floor you can use an electric pad designed to be used to have flooring over italso I would all the windows replaced to brand new energy efficient windows
You don't say where you are, but I'm assuming it must be a cold climateYes, slab floors are cold in the wintertime! The problem is, your house warmth is wicked out of the house by the slabSome of this heat goes underneath the house, where the soil temperature tends to stay about 55 Fdegrees, but most of your heat loss goes to the edges of the slab, and out to the outside world, where it's usually a lot colder than 55! This gives clues to the answerYou can't do much for the heat that goes under your slab (you can't physically get under it, and if you could, it would ruin it anyway), but 55 degrees is only perhaps 15 degrees difference from what you are heating your house to anywayBut you can get to the outside of your house! Dig down all around the perimeter of the house, outside the slab, to a depth of 2', and install rigid foam insulation made especially for this kind of purpose, it comes in large sheets and in 1, 2, and 3 thicknessThis foam will be either pink or blue in color, and is specially made so water cannot penetrate it - don't use normal foam for this! I live on a slab foundation, and did this to my houseThe improvement wais quite astoundingLater, I added a floating floor inside, and that has a thin layer of insulation, too, plus the thickness of the floorI think it all helps.
on a honda engine, the best sealer i have ever used is a product called honda bond it is sold by honda dealers and does a very good job if you follow the directions on the packageif you do not have access to this product, then use an anerobic sealer made by such companies as permatez corpit also does a very good job on aluminum cases
