Question:

Do you need an E3 card reader when downgrading ps3 from 3.72 to 3.55?

Do you specifically need the E3 card reader when downgrading a 3.72 ps3 to 3.55 using the E3 flasher, or can you just use any card reader, and if so what kind of card reader dose it have to be?

Answer:

From what I know, I don't think you need to rely on an E3 Card alone. There are a few other ways to get this done. Other than jailbreaking your PS3 to downgrade, go to YouTube or Google and search up, Downgrade PS3 to 3.55 You should find your answer there.
I wish people would read the question and understand it before they rush into an answer to show how much they know, or in this case, don't.
Ps3 E3 Card Reader
You need an E3 Flasher or similar device like a ProgSkeet. It's not a card reader. It's basically a second internal flash chip that can overwrite the one in your PS3. You have to open your system up to install it. But did your system come with 3.55 or lower orginally? If it had 3.72 out of the box you can't downgrade to 3.55 no matter what you use.
