Question:

does a PCMCIA card go into a card reader?

I was wonder cos i was thinking of getting a laptop, but i want to know if it have a PCMCIA slot for an exturnal modem or it is not much use of getting it.

Answer:

A PCMCIA (in reality a CardBus) slot hardware is shoved down your throat as a standard equipment for a laptop just as a floppy drive is shoved down your throat for a desktop. There is no card reader for it the way CompactFlash, SD, etc do. It make sense to get USB external devices instead PCMCIA cards if you have the option to, modem included.
