Question:

Does a Rug Doctor really work?

Is the Rug Doctor carpet shampooer really all its cracked up to be? And if not what is? I am trying to get rid of urine stains in my dining room from my persistent pooch. Any suggestions?

Answer:

Yes, they are pretty good... I work at Lowe's and I'm planning on renting one when the store opens.... It's costs about $25 per day and you don't have to use RUG DOCTOR soap.. Any kind of machine soap for rug cleaners will work... I've use some commercial machines like the Bissell and it just didn't work properly... I've found that a wet/dry shopvac works very, very well in areas that are spotted.... Just remember to take out the paper filter inside before you use it for wet applications.... Apply pretreater to the area and rinse with cool water... Keep using the tools to extract water and the stain... It may take some time but, if it's just one area. You can also get a special cleaner made just for pet accidents. We sell one at LOWES but, I can't remember the name..It's like a NATURES MIRACLE type product and it wasn't that expensive.. It's enzyme based so the stain gets eaten away by proteins... . * I'm setting up and opening a new store- I'm new to the company! That might make your pooch less persistant in the that spot... Also, sounds silly but, put down a large piece of aluminum foil on the spot AFTER it's done being cleaned.. They don't like the feel of it on their paws and will avoid the area...
Before and after , I think it works great... will do it again...
Try whit a analysis in a Laboratory, when you are in the water, opening the grief to hear running the weather then sure you urine well.
madmarv:yes but spray resolve carpet on it first or windex as for pooch try putting dogie pads in other room and house break pooch to use pads not carpet.
The only problem I have had with the Rug Doctor machine is that it really soaks your carpet. I bought a Bissell steam cleaner for under $150 and it works far better and dries in less than 3 hours! Now whenever I have a stain I just grab my own machine and the stain is gone! I also use it on the carpets in my vehicles and on my sofas. It comes with an upholstery cleaner wand. The solution is also less expensive than the Rug Doctor. Good luck!
