Question:

Does anyone have a Better Homes and Garden older cookbook that has a barbeque sauce recipe in it?

I lost my older cookbook and the newer ones, since the 50s doesn't have the recipe.

Answer:

Yes, I do. If it's the recipe that's in the chicken section, it's great. It's like the one above but this one has additional ingredients like br sugar lemon juice. After browning the chicken in salad oil, remove the chicken and add to the oil: 2 medium onions in 1/4 inch slices 1/2 cup chopped celery. Cook till tender. Add 1 cup catsup, 1 cup water, 1/4 cup lemon juice, 2 to 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce and 2 Tbsp each brown sugar, vinegar prepared mustard. Season. Simmer 10 minutes; skim off excess fat.
Favorite Beef Loaf 1-1/2 pounds ground beef 1 cup medium cracker crumbs 2 beaten eggs 1 8-ounce can seasoned tomato sauce 1/2 cup finely-chopped onions 2 tablespoons chopped green pepper 1-1/2 teaspoons salt 1 medium bay leaf, crushed Dash thyme Dash marjoram Combine all ingredients; mix well. Shape mixture in a loaf in shallow baking dish. Press two green pepper rings and an onion ring atop meat loaf, if desired. Bake at 350 degrees about 1 hour. Makes 6 to 8 servings. I ordered this cookbook on line because the recipes are so good.
I have this one from an old Better Homes and Garden... Ingredients 1 cup catsup 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup finely chopped onion or 1 tablespoon dried minced onion 1/4 cup vinegar 1 - 2 tablespoons sugar 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1/4 teaspoon celery seed 1/4 teaspoon salt Several dashes bottled hot pepper sauce In a saucepan combine catsup, water, onion, vinegar, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, celery seed, salt, and hot pepper sauce..... Bring to boiling; reduce heat..... Simmer, uncovered, 10 to 15 minutes or to desired consistency...... Brush on beef, pork, or poultry during last 10 to 15 minutes of grilling or roasting..... If desired, pass any remaining sauce...... Makes 1-3/4 cups sauce (twenty-eight, 1-tablespoon servings)...... Hope this is the one you are looking for......

Today I laid to rest a classmate, then I come home to find three dogs dead, from poison, intentionally. And you are going to comment on an answer about MY language. and you didn't even submit and answer, what did you forget how to? Don't worry look back, you have about 9 answers for that. Have a wonderful day.
