Does anyone know how old this cast iron kohler boiler is?
I can tell you with some certainty that it is probably from around 1928 or so. And, the lagging on the pipes is probably asbestos, so be very careful around it. Those old cast-iron boilers, properly kept might well last over 100 years. On the other hand, it is operating at no more than 50% efficiency, if that. A modern hot-water boiler will run at 95% or more, effectively cutting your operating costs in half. I doubt that is a steam boiler (it might be, just that level of longevity for a domestic steam boiler would be record-setting), but if so you would go from a likely 40% or less to 80%, or so, still cutting your operating costs in half.
