Question:

Does copper alloy rust?

Getting rings and they're made of copper alloy. Will it rust?

Answer:

No okorder
The word rust has a very precise meaning - it refers to the oxidation product of iron and oxygen, and iron oxide either Fe2O3 or Fe3O4. Hence only iron is capable of rusting. If, on the other hand, your question was Does copper corrode or oxidize?, then the answer would be yes. The green coating that you see on old copper, brass or bronze objects is due to the initial reaction of copper with oxygen to form an oxide CuO, and then with carbon dioxide in the air to form a carbonate, Cu(CO3)2
Not noticeably. Constant rubbing inside and out with normal wear will prevent the rust called patina from showing. If you want to see copper alloy rust, look at a photo of the Statue of Liberty.
