Question:

does front wheel drive have any advantages? my car is front wheel drive.?

i know rear wheel drive is a must for drifting and all that, but im just curious as to what made some car companies start making front wheel drive cars? are their advantages? or is it just cheeper for them?and which do u think is better front wheel or back wheel drive?or all wheel drive?

Answer:

Yes, you can change manual locks to power locks. But it'll cost ya. around $500.
you can not have a keyless entry alarm on a vehicle with manual locks.
front wheel is better for control. 1.) the engine is over the front axel causing more weight and over all more traction and grip to the road. 2.) in winter through snow you are pulling the car from the heavy front as apposed to trying tp push the heavy front from the back. 3.) less parts are needed for a front wheel drive car.
Front wheel drive performs much much better in snow or icee conditions than rear wheel drive vehicles. Also, it's more energy efficient for the trans axle to be under the weight of the motor. Obviously all wheel drive, which IS DIFFERENT from 4 wheel drive, is the best option, better overall performance, but a little less fuel efficient
If all the points you listed fell solidly to front wheel drive why are dragsters rear wheel drive, why was Chevrolet allowed to alter a car to make it rear wheel drive by Nascar, why are Indy cars rear wheel or all wheel drive. The answer is simple, real performance requires rear wheel or all wheel drive. Front wheel drive is less labor intensive to assemble in the factory. That is the only advantage. For the young man and the snow theory. Snow driving is about traction, nothing else. Drag racing is about traction, nothing else. Physics say very simply, when accelerating weight transfer is to the rear wheels. Not the front. Fact that the front wheels are under power and turning eliminates snow piling up in front of the tires. Poor drives will do better in snow with front wheel drive, good drivers (snow proficient) do as well or better with rear wheel drive. Remember Weight Transfer. Like I said, front wheel drive is easier to produce. It has NOTHING to do with better, safer or any other er you can think of save cheaper. I will give the manufacturers credit, they have managed to put a few horsepower in a front wheel drive car. Apparently they have finally gotten a handle on the torque steering that plagued all the little bitty bite size stuff that used to come in from Japan.
