Question:

Does mercury react with quartz?

I have some mercury in a quartz tube and when you slide it back and forth it produces a flash of light

Answer:

Quartz mines are in Rajasthan mainly, and manufacturers and exporters are in Jaipur/Udaipur. :)
rose quartz as far as i know/understand is not a mineral but a gem stone used in ornaments ., white quartz is a mineral used in manufacture of pigiron and this (rose quartz) is available alongwith other COLOUREDstones mostly in rural hillocks(in andhra pradesh) dug by innocent labourers (engaged by middlemen/traders)and some even loose their lives due to collapse of the mud diggings on them
