Question:

Does sound bats or insulation work better for noise reduction?

When finishing a basement, do you recommend sound bats or insulation in (recreational room) ceiling of basement to reduce noise coming up thru hardwood floors? We have hardwood floors on main floor and we are going to be putting up drywall on ceiling of basement living space.

Answer:

This is just a cruel way of making yourself look smart S M R T Tina Thinking back though 20 plus years so you will have to excuse me but this is not my field of study, but I thought the frequency or hertz refers to how many waves per second and really does not effect the wave length just how many per time interval, so if your wave slows down doesn't that mean the frequency had to have changeTina This makes my head hurt.
insulation should do fine and is probably alot cheaper it will be hard to eliminate all noise because it is transfered through your floor joist
