Question:

dog chewed on plastic and dryer sheets?

My doxie puppy is 7mo and chews on everything under the sun. While at work today the got the lid of a candle and a dryer sheet. usually unsupervised everything is put up or away to avoid these things happening but I have no Idea where she got it from but either way. she chewed the plastic around the lid off and I found most of them but I think she swallowed a few. Six hours later the threw up clear liquid and it had a two very small spots of blood and I mean so small almost specks. She is still eating drinking and humping my arm so I asume she is ok for the moment but I was just wondering if I should be overtly worried. thank you!

Answer:

Hi Since you mentioned the small spots of blood, you should first do a good examination of her mouth to see if she has a small cut. I would otherwise just monitor for now. It's possible that a sharp edge can cause an injury in the digestive tract. If it becomes worse or she develops other symptoms, you should contact your Vet for their recommendations. You might consider getting her a Deer Antler to curb her chewing on everything. It will likely become her favorite toy to chew on, and they Last for a long time. Best of Luck!
No 7 mth old pup should be out of a crate when nobody is home to supervise every action.....Go to the vet to make sure everything is fine.....
I think it is a good idea to invest in a crate and some bitter apple spray. I have a 8 month old and a 2 year old English setter and I would not even dream of leaving them out of their crates when nobody is home. The 8 month old barely stays out of trouble when people are watching her.
Don't worry your doxie is fine ! If you make a trip to your nearest petsmart, they sell a spray that can be used on almost everything such as furniture and plants keeping dogs from chewing or biting ! The product is save and works wonders ! I used it only once and never had a problem again with my dog. Product is save for both the dog and the environment. Forgot name of product but it comes in a white spray bottle with green lettering. Good luck !
Sometimes I think that these people get kicks out of sitting back and judging others peoples accidents or mistakes Don't yu wish you where as perfect as they are??? bluuuuuppppp!!!! Anyway , to get to the question at hand, things happen this way a nd sometimes you can't keep every eye open ever second they are awake. Dogs chew on things I always say that if I have ever lost anything one of my pups will find it. Just watch here and make sure she goes outside okay and the blood is probably from her gums from the chewing, if she becomes painful when you pick her up or rub her tummy then just take her to the vet I'm sure you won't be condemned there for not watching yur puppy good enough they see this everyday and my dogs are crated and they still find a way sometimes to paw at something a get it just because. I think she will be fine and after about 36 hours of going okay I wouldn't worry anymore. God bless
