Question:

Dog may have eaten Chapstick and the tube itself!?

My 27 lb 4 year old dog possibly ate my Chapstick including the plastic tube. It was pretty small and he has not been acting any differently. My major concern is the plastic part. How soon would I start seeing symptoms if it was causing problems? It's been 24 hours since he ate it. Is something like that passable? Any insight would help! I say he may have eaten it only because I didn't physically see it happen. But one minute it was on the floor and then a minute later all i could find was the cap.

Answer:

I had a wiener dog that swallowed a Chapstick lid (10-15lb dog) and I didnt know she did or even when she did I just noticed one day that she didn#x27;t want to eat and acted as i she was uncomfortable sitting on her butt so I took her to the vet and they gave her liquid to help pass it but she didn#x27;t so it cost $300 to remove it ever dog is different some can pass some big stuff my brothers friends lab swallowed a whole XL t shirt I haven#x27;t a clue how he could have done that and no one knew he did but he passed it on his own crazy! But if your dog stops wanting to eat or acts uncomfortable in any way or doesn#x27;t pass it in another day I would deff take the dog to the vet
He will either pass it in a day or two. Watch his stools for it. Or if he stops pooping, you will need to take him to the vet because it could be causing a blockage in his intestines. Hopefully, he will just pass it.
Yes it#x27;s possible. You should search very carefully for the container and if you still don#x27;t find it you may call your vet. If the plastic is going to hurt your dog you may have to force him to drink a little bit of hydrogen peroxide. I had to do this when my dog ate a poisonous frog. Your dog will vomit multiple times if you do this and it will be very pitiful to watch but could save his life
