I have two small children who can unlock the front door along with the dead bolt. I was going to put a chain lock on until I noticed the door is lined with a metal frame. I live in an a apartment so i cant just drill through it. What can i do? Thank you
yes you can install a chain on the metal . you just need to drill it with the proper drill bit for the screws and change to sheet metal screws if needed.
You can get a simple slide bolt and mount it on the jam only. When you slide it over it will stop the door from opening. BUT just like a double cylinder dead bolt with no key available your kids can't get out in the case of a fire. Good Luck
There are many different styles of locks you can purchase. Including a flip lock that attaches to the door jamb. Check out your options in the door hardware section of your Home Depot or Lowe's.
