I think that you are asking about the TANDAM operation of two hoists. For this kind of operations, two hoists are operated together, at the same speed by single switch for up or down. On lifting side, the two hooks are connected to a steel beam on two ends. There is a single hook at the centre of the steel beam. Suppose the capacity of each of hoists is C and the load of the common bar is W then the capacity of two hoists working in tandam is 2C - W. If you try operating them independently, then one of the hoists will be overloaded.
