Question:

Dryer - venting accordion tube way too long?

I just got my new dryer installedThe venting accordion hose that connects from back of dryer to the wall is so darn long, all I needed is about 12-15 inches of itThe guy who came and installed did not want to shorten it, said it was against store policy (Lowes) It's looks all scrunched up but the guy said not to worry, no damage will occurHe made it so that it kinda snaked around but space is tight and the laundry closet isn't the roomiest.Do they come shorter, or can I have it shortened? I believe it's made of aluminum he said, the old one was made of plastic

Answer:

If it aint broke din't fix it! We all have our eccentricities and it doesn't sound like your behaviour is affecting your life right now but if it gets worse talk to your family doctor about it.
It should be as short as possibleYes, you can do it yourself: remove the clamp on one end, cut through the aluminum skin with a knife, then cut the spiral wire with wire cuttersDon't worry about making a mistake; you'll have enough leftover tube to make four or five mistakesAnd that stuff is cheap, anyway.
