Question:

dull finish on ceramic tile?

after grouting a new tile floor (about 400 sq ft) and several moppings the finish is still somewhat dull. how do i clean the tile to bring back a nice glossy finish? Thanks

Answer:

A old terri cloth towel dusting the tile and doing the tile dry. If you need a bit stronger use a white nylon scrub pad called a doodlebug pad. Most every tile place will have these. If that doesn t work , then go to the grout haze and effervescent remover ( sold as one multi use product) 8/9$ an 8 oz concentrate Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar...GL
Rise out a sponge, wipe it gently across the surface with one smooth stroke. Flip the sponge over and use the other side for the next stroke. Then rinse the sponge off again and repeat the process until you’ve wiped down the whole area. Resist the temptation to rinse the sponge less often.
It most likely needs to be dry wiped with a few rolls of paper towels or cheese cloth. Try to dry wipe it then mop it. If it still seems hazy then you may need a product like Lithofin PowerClean. I can't imagine the dry wipe technique not working unless you didn't grout it properly.
Mopping isn't the proper technique, you need to get down on you hands and knees with a sponge. If the tile has a haze hardened onto it, you may need to use a nylon scrubber pad or tile grout scrubber on the tile surface, or if it's really set on, they make a haze remover just for the purpose.
