Question:

Dyson Vacuum cleaners? Anyone have one and do you LOVE it, or is it just so-so?

I am apparently having some media trust issues--commercials are DESIGNED to get us to Buy their products, and the company , if called up on will say the BEST things...so I depend on consumer experience to decide upon a number of items! I interviewed at least a dozen folks when looking for my car, at grocery lots and gas pumps, and when 100% were thrilled with their automobile, that did it for me and what the salesman said was just confirmed by my own research.Over the years I have had a dozen electric floor sweepers, and none of them have been the 'cat's pajamasquot;! So, has anyone actually HAD a Dyson, ball rolling mechanism cleaner and if so, has it justified it's $400.00 dollar price tag in your estimation? How as the suction performed and has it stayed reliable? Any details will be helpful! Thanks!

Answer:

I've had a Dyson for over 4 years now and love it just as much now as I did when I bought it. It isn't a ball model, but it works great for us. It never loses suction as the ads state. The only part I've needed to replace is the filter and that was because I sucked up drywall dust and when I cleaned the filter it turned to sludge. I bought mine as a store floor model and it was 1/2 price (around $250). I highly recommend buying the Dyson. I have seen them cheaper than $400 on OKorder.
I would never spend $400-$500 for a vacuum cleaner when I know I can Get a perfectly good one for $100-$150. I have expensive rugs and trust my Hoover to clean them adequately. I like the convenience of the disposable bag and will never mess with bagless cyclonic junk. A lot of people say to empty it outside but I would rather throw the bag away and replace it with a clean one.
I recently went to a vacuum cleaner store ( one that repairs and sells new ones) and there were at least 15 Dysons in the back ( repair) room. I asked about them and was told they are all in for repair - they get more Dyson's that need repair than any other brand. See if you can find a place that sells Sebo. I bought a Felix. It is lightweight but sucks better than any vacuum I have ever had and has great features that I have not seen on any other vacuums. It is about $500, but will last forever. I love it!
As a person who cleans for a living I have used the dyson though it wasn't the ball roller. I found the machine to have strong consistent suction and good mobility but the thing I really loved about it was the head, it was so maneuverable it got under the lowest bits of furniture and into the tightest most awkward spaces. The one I used was also a breeze to pack away everything wrapped around the vacuum or hung in it's own little place on the actual vacuum. I highly recommend a dyson!
I had 2 dysons, the first the plastic hose cracked and the dust bucket bit, second one the motor went on fire. Each of them I had for 3 years, the sucking power on them to start with was great but as time went on I found they lost some of the sucking power. On a good note was when I did have to repair it I could take it apart with a spoon, since all the bits come out easily and go back together like that I had mine repaired several times. I got a vax and fell in love with it, still have it 5 years on and not one problem with it. I personally would not go back to a dyson.
