Question:

eddie bauer plastic bottles & BPA?

I have a blue eddie bauer plastic bottle and i want to know if it was made with BPA. It says quot;made in chinaquot; on the bottom and the letters quot;PCquot; are stamped on there as well.

Answer:

That plastic is in every bottle on the market, unless you want to pay $10 a bottle for fancy ones that don't have the BPA thing. But that is ridiculous when you think of the number of bottles you'll go through a day. I am using Dr. Browns and proud of it. I like them because of they reduce gas and air bubbles for the baby. The biggest problem with plastic bottles comes from heating them in the microwave, that's what releases all the funky BPA stuff. Don't do that and they are just as safe as a glass bottle. Heat the bottle in a hot cup of water or a bottle warmer. BTW...I don't even think they make Dr. Brown bottles in glass, and even if they do imagine what that costs! More likely it is all the new preservatives in food, even baby food, that is causing all the problems with kids today. That is what's causing problems with adults.
it will say BPA free on the bottle.

PC = polycarbonate.........BPA = Bisphenol A #7 plastic is made of OTHER (whatever compounds that don't fit in with the other numbers). This category consists of three and five gallon water jugs, oven baking bags, corn based plastics, and PC (polycarbonate). PC (polycarbonate) can be found in some baby bottles and sports bottles. Polycarbonate plastics might leach bisphenol A into the liquids they contain. Bisphenol A is an artifical estrogen. As such, bisphenol A can disrupt hormone functions.
