Answer:

I don't know what the benefits are BUT I know if you have too much you might DIE
Nutrition Almanac 3rd Edition Lavon J Dunne ISBN 0-07-034912-6 The National Research Council RECOMMENDS a daily dietary intake of 2 milligrams of copper for adults. On the plus side copper is a necessary mineral micro-nutrient. Just don't overdo it. Yes copper in miniscule amounts is actually a nutrient. Copper assists in the formation of hemoglobin, and red blood cells... its involved in forming the pigments in your body's natural hair colour, Copper is also involved in enzymes for digestion, involved in protein metabolism and in healing processes, necessary for proper bone formation, and maintenance, and necessary for the production of RNA in ALL your cells. Without copper, your body can't make new cells. Its also involved in the formation of elastin - a part of healthy, youthful skin and a chief component of the elastic muscle fibres throughout the body. Also copper is required for the synthesis of phospholipids, substances essential in the formation of the protective myelin sheaths surrounding nerve fibres. Your body actually NEEDS copper. Anyone who eats green leafy vegetables, salads, almonds, whole-grain products, liver, seafoods, is actually eating copper too. Too much of a good thing, any good thing, can also be unhealthy. IF you get tooo much copper, it can contribute to insomnia, functional hypoglycemia, hypertension, autism, senility, paranoia, depression, stuttering, and pre-menstrual tension in women. Zinc in the diet helps to balance it and remove excess copper from your body. Again, you need zinc, but don't overdo that either !!! Your body must get some copper to stay healthy, but don't overdo it and become unhealthy !
