Answer:

I've lived in a modular home for quite a while, and it's actually a good thing they have detectors that are sensitive because the materials they use in the construction of these houses isn't quite the same as regular homes.I have seen a few burn, and not to scare you,but they tend to be tinder boxes.
Ooooh the thrill of parenthood! you ought to be an encyclopaedia! Lol! ok. A colt is a colt till he's 4 years previous. A colt that has been gelded in the past the age of four continues to be a colt. And at 4 he turns right into a gelding.
Relocate the detector nearest the stove away from the heat of the stove. When you cook, be sure to turn on the vent a hood to draw out the smoke and excess heat, this will eliminate the alarm from false alarms. The alarm that keeps going off may be contaminated. You may need to replaced the sensor or even update the alarm. Most importantly, keep your smoke alarms connected and in good mechanical use. Here is some additional advice: According to the new NFPA-72 (fire codes) the layout that the previous owners may be just about right, I commend them in their (or the electricians) wisdom. As for your false alarm problem, the first thing that you will want to do is identify the detector that is causing the false alarm. You should be able to do this if the smoke detectors have this feature On most smoke detectors the one that caused the alarm will have a red light that will come on steady or blink rapidly when it is in alarm. If your detectors do not have this feature don't worry, the following will help all of your detectors. Next, you will need to clean the one that went into alarm. Cleaning all of them can only help you in the long run. Most detectors will have a little notch in the side of them where you can put a small (pocket) screw driver to open the case or you may have to push up on the detector and turn. This step should be done with the power turned off for safety. If not (with your ear plugs in) use a can of compressed air and blow the dirt and dust out of the detector. Keep in mind, the dirt may trip the detectors into alarm. If you do not feel comfortable doing this yourself, you may want to call a fire alarm company or an electrician that installs fire alarms, to do the cleaning for you. If you use a fire alarm company, they should also test each one and let you know the status of each detector (dirty, wrong placement, etc). More often than not, dirty detectors are the cause of these intermittant false alarms.
Does you vent hood vent into the kitchen or through the roof? If through the roof, always use the fan when cooking. Where is the kitchen detector locatedyou might need to move it further away from the stove and/or cook on a lower heat. They all go off because they are probably hard-wired interconnected. Good luck
It's just too close to the cooking area. Put in another, preferably in a bedroom or two, and disconnect the one near the kitchen. It's way too sensitive. Ours used to go off when I boiled water and steam filled the kitchen. If, when you try them in other rooms, you still have the same problem, I would ask the modular home company what they suggest. Perhaps the fire department can assist you. They really want to help.
