Question:

EMP Device design for physics class?

I have to provide an EMP device design for physics theory class next week, but I am struggling to grasp the concept, I need to provide a plan for the device that does NOT require explosives. Anyone know any links to an image showing a plan for a relativity simple EMP device.I need an actual diagram plan ideally, but any plan would be nice anybody help?

Answer:

Really large plate capacitor with air dielectric, and a spark gap. Making lightning. The more voltage you can dump into it, the bigger and more energetic the EMP pulse. Drive the spark gap closed very quickly, so that the pulse duration is short.
1) Get a flyback transformer from an old CRT or TV- the bigger the better- and short the leads with a copper bar (don't use the wires- the impulse will melt them) 2) Add a capacitor bank- a 50 Farad 500 Volt parallel array should do. 3) You'll need a high current solid state relay- its rating will depend on the gauge of the flyback transformers coil wire, but 600 Amps will probably do. 4) You'll need to charge the cap bank, so add a 110V to 440V step-up transformer followed by a DC rectifier. 5) Charge the cap bank. 6) Get very, very out of the way. 7) Dump the capacitors through the SSR into the flyback transformer. 8) The transient EM field will create a secondary magnetic impulse within the flyback transformer's coil. The coil will explode quite spectacularly, but not before generating a respectable EM pulse.
What the hellnothing is clearthe guys telling you that you have failed emmissions are selling the stuff to fix it. now theres a conflict the check engine light should not come on for the life of the car.if it does it should be fixed for freethe cars are engineered so that the light will come on !!!.its a scamstates don t care about pollutionthey care about money,,they scare you into the garage and then take your money before they let you out.the more the light comes on the more taxes they make and the more the mechnics lobbyists and parts people makeand they can claim that they are being the environmantalists.
All new cars today operate with the same computerized scam that no mechanic can figure out. The car industry is internally corrupted.
No, it's not a scam. Can you not accept the fact that in your case, the light came on for no discernable reason, but that in 99.99% of other cases, the engine light signals a very serious problem?
