Question:

Engine light came on after installing Cold air intake?

About a month ago i got my cold air intake installed, and the next day my engine light came on, but my 08 civic drives fun, anybody know if this could be a serious problem? or just a minor one?

Answer:

Installing Cold Air Intake
Minor one. The oil on the air filter has contaminated your mass air flow sensor. Buy an aerosol can of CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner, remove it from the throttle body and spray it off. You do realize that your car came from the factory with a cold air system! All you would have to done was drop a KN air cleaner in the stock cold air box where your old air cleaner is. The problem with aftermarket cold air systems is they have no water drains. The stock one has water drains between the two left side fenders.
Go get the codes read. Those POS filters have oil on them that migrates to the wires on the MAF sensor and ruins the sensor. You had a cold air intake that came from the factory. It just wasn't shiny chrome! I'd get the codes read so you know why the light came on and put the old air filter assembly back on.
