Question:

estimate on replacing carpet?

can someone give me an estimate on replacing carpet with wood 10ft by 10ft =100sq.ft.

Answer:

Your wood installation price will probably be about 3.50/sf (square foot). Your carpet demo price will be about 1.75/sy (square yard or 9 sf). Moving and resetting large furniture items only will probably run $55-100, depending on what you have. Your wood price will range from about $5/sf to $10/sf, depending on what you choose. Good luck with that!
Depends on type of wood and subfloor. Expect to double the cost of the wood for professional installationl. Pergo type flooring self installed 17sqft for $50 so around $340 total.
Ripping out the old carpet will cost less than 50$ if its a standard pad/carpet combo. Often for a job that size you can get an installer to toss that in as part of the job but don t assume so. Easy enough to do yourself . Carpet disposal is always a problem too. Check on whats available in your area , through a disposal company , your local landfill or recycling center. Wood installation does go from 3/ 3.5$ a s/f depending on the rate in your area. As far as the wood itself, it can go from 3 $ a s/f for basic 2 1/4 oak to as high as 20 $ a s/f for exotic woods. So your in the ball park or 7$ a s/f ( and up) ..This won t include any unseen floor prep. This is always a good idea to pull the carpet up yourself and inspect the floor. If alls ok then the wood can be dropped off, opened and acclimated to the room and be ready to go for installation. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar .
Home Depot will come to your house and give you a free estimate. I recently put in two rooms of carpet and it cost $750.00 total-that was with installation.
