Question:

Experienced crafters-fabric paint question?

I am touching up a Christmas sweatshirt I did years ago and have a couple of questionsI used fabric paint to outline and highlight iron-on appliques, so there are not large areas of paintI remember I had to let it lie flat for maybe 24 hours? before putting it in the dryer to quot;setquot; the paintIs that the right length of time? How long does it need to be in the dryer? What setting? Right side out or inside out? Washing tips for after I wear it? I really would like to have this looking nice again for Christmas DayThanks so much!

Answer:

A rotary cutter is your best betMost fabric stores will have this in their notions sectionWhen you cut the fabric, remember to put something underneath to protect the top your cutting surfaceI use one of the mats specially made for rotary cuttersThis board also protects the fabric from picking up any slivers of the cutting surface when the rotary cutter is used without any protection underneathAlso, some fabric stores sell bundles of pre-cut squaresAsk the store person about thatOf course, you are limited to whatever the color choices are.
