Question:

experiences with copper IUDs?

I am thinking of getting a copper IUD since I don't like the idea of putting a bunch of hormones in my body for the purpose of birth control. IUDs are actually more effective than birth control pills or any other form of birth control other than the Depo-Provera injection (which can result in a loss of bone density, so I don't want it). Has anyone gotten a copper IUD.... experiences.... side effects? How did the insertion feel... how was the removal? A good idea for a young person in a long-term monogamous relationship?

Answer:

I would not recommend any birth control, If you don't want to give birth, don't do anything that will make you want to give birth. Thats the best hormone, just a good idea to a friend
I was on the pill for a couple of years but it was raising my blood pressure. The copper-IUD has no hormones and therefore the best choice for me. It didn't hurt when they put it in but i did get a little dizzy and faint for a couple of minutes. After about 15 minutes I went back to work, so it was no big deal. I have only had one side effect which was heavy bleeding during my period but that goes away after a couple of months. Other than that, I couldn't be happier...the pill was a pain in the butt! I recommend the copper IUD 100%.
