Question:

Feedback regarding cork flooring?

we're considering it for a kid's playroom. Is it durable? I want flooring that won't be toxic, yet easy to clean and will be tough.

Answer:

Cork wouldn't stay clean, and how WOULD you clean it? I would use tile. If you want it soft, there are some commercial grade linoleum type floor coverings that are rubbery or soft-- but you can clean them like a tile floor. They are starting to be used in hospitals, and are nice. I'm not sure about the toxicity, though. Probably pretty expensive, but so would cork be expensive, and a waste of money because you couldn't clean it.
Hi, Cork is a durable product as the Chicago's First Congregational Church has had its floor since 1890. It is a comfortable and warm floor due to its cellular structure. This structure makes it also reduce sound transmission making it a great choice where you want to minimize noise. Cork has a natural substance in it that makes it resistant to insects and mold perfect for those with allergies. It is a natural and green flooring product.
