First to be successful soldering old copper he must follow these tips: 1) Isolate water on the area you doing the repairs by closing valves involved 2) Drain every drop of water from the lines you soldering 3) Using a thin metal sand paper like 400 to 600 grit, sand the area you welding and the fittings as well until they look shinny and clean. 4) Depending what welding wire you use, spread some welding paste acid on the joints if the welding wire does not contain that chemical. 5) With the torch, apply plenty enough heat to the area you soldering 6) When area is hot enough, apply welding wire around and covering every spot. 7) Use a wet rag to cold the area welded. NOTE: If you followed these steps right, should not be leaks. If not, repeat the process. Good luck!
