No-one actually looks at your gloves or cares what they look like unless they're a massive bike geek, get some that fit well, are warm and safe. I've had some RST Pro series ones for more than a year now and they're good kit. Comfortable and breathable without being too cold until about late october/early november, look pretty cool and they have Knox SPS which I think is quite important (having previously worked in a hospital where a radiologist colleague did a lot of scaphoid-injury scans on bikers) particularly if your livelihood involves typing or any kind of manual work! However they're not at all waterproof and do get chilly in winter, so I ended up kind of wishing I'd gone for the less fancy-looking (typically all-black) competitors such as the Weise Pacifics or Knox's own output. (Plus the RSTs seem made for someone with a very long pinky finger :-D) One thing that may be looking into is Knox's new Handroid range. They're a little expensive (arguably worth it, particularly if you keep them 2, 3 or more years) and the click-turn tensioning system is a pure gimmick, but there's an awful lot of safety and comfort tech gone into them. Mine's the winter spec ones I think (damn near cooked my hands in the shop when trying on some display models), so long as they come with some instructions about how to properly put them on! If you still value the appearance more, the safe default for stylish looking gloves is probably Alpinestars, but you'll pay through the nose for them.
I would call your fire department. They can come out and check and make sure everything is okay. If there are high levels of carbon monoxide, they will find the source (your furnace, water heater). If you don't fix it you could get sick and even die. So this is pretty serious. I would call right away.
