Question:

Flexible laser cuttable material?

I was thinking I was just gonna use thin Aluminium.but it seems like a 50Watt can bearly cut that.anyone have a material that can be bent and hold it's shape?(Other than thermoplasticsbut if you know a good one

Answer:

Paper? You didn't want thermoplastics, but here are a couple anyway: Polyester film/sheet (e.gMylar(tm)) is a possibility, there will be a lot of spring back when bending, but it is possible to get it to hold a shapeAcrylic is pretty easy to laser cut, but you will have to heat it for bendingYou might find thin steel easier to cut than aluminum, while it's melting point is much higher than aluminum, its thermal conductivity and reflectivity is less so it can be heated more effectivelyPlus if you have oxygen assist gas the burning steel provides a lot of heat on its ownBut 50W is pretty low for any metal cutting.
