Question:

Ford Taurus windshield wipers going by themselves?

My girlfriend drives a 1999 Ford Taurus and almost every time she drives the windshield wipers will go by themselves. It doesn‘t have any aftermarket bull that senses rain or whatever. Sometimes they will go back and forth just a few times but others they will go on for a minute or two. Why????No the knob is not half way on or getting bumped for anyone who thinks it is something simple like that.

Answer:

Well i know for a fact that in GA airplanes there is no system that stops them, as for hitting the brakes i don't think it would really matter they tend to stop very fast. Instructing question though
A conventional aircraft tricycle configuration consisting of a nose landing gear and a left and right main landing gear. Each landing gear includes a shock strut with wheel and tire assemblies. Each main landing gear wheel is equipped with a brake assembly with anti-skid protection. The main landing gear brakes cannot be applied until weight on the main gear has been sensed. This would in my opinion prevent the pilot(s) from applying the brakes after take-off. I do know that in smaller planes and in winter conditions, you never touch the bakes after take off, lest they might freeze up and spoil your day on landing.
I fly a Bonanza, and the POH says to momentarily tap the brakes to stop the wheels from spinning before retracting them. I don't know that it actually makes any difference, but the book says to, so I do.
Chances are; 1. It is all in your head. The mind tends to imagine crazy things 2. There is a switch that tells the windshield wipers to start going like when your brain tells your muscles to move. I do not know how to dumb that down anymore for you. It is very possible that the switch could be bad. A couple 10's of dollars could get you a new switch, install it, see if the problem persist. If not my job is done.
