Question:

Friends in serious danger?

I am asking for help through prayers, moments of thought or what you do for those in trouble. I have some friends who are cut off during the winter months on a regular basis, but they are now in serious trouble. They live in Eagle Alaska and are very, very dear to me. Stacy is one of the few close friends I have up here, having met her the year I moved here and I am very concerned over all the people in the village of Eagle, because of the cold, animals (pets and wild) food and clothing. (Please look at Alaska on a globe or map that is to scale to understand the degree of the danger)Because of the space available, I will copy her email to the first discussion, so you can understand their situation better.Thank you so much!ADDITION:Majority of homes up here not insured or insurable due to lack of fire and safety help because of distances. No insurance for friends who lost everything.

Answer:

Yes. It is as provocative as the Soviet Union placing missiles in Cuba in the 1960s was. Missile defense makes us more vulnerable, not less so. First of all, it does nothing to protect against chemical or biological weapons, which typically don't arrive via intercontinental ballistic missile. And it does nothing to protect against so-called suitcase or backpack bombs. Nor does it seem likely that one of those states for whom terror and blackmail are a way of life, as Bush put it, would hurl a nuclear weapon at us via an ICBM, which comes with a return address on it. Whoever did that would face instant annihilation, and most dictators aren't suicidal. But what missile defense will do is ignite a dangerous arms race, perhaps with Russia, but especially with China. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that the placement of a U.S. missile shield in Europe will harm regional security. The placement of elements of a U.S. global missile shield in Eastern Europe will only aggravate the situation, Medvedev said at a meeting with senior Russian diplomats in Moscow. Moscow has strongly opposed the possible deployment by the U.S. of 10 interceptor missiles in Poland and an accompanying radar in the Czech Republic as a threat to its security and international nuclear deterrence. Washington says the defenses are needed to deter a possible strike from IRAN. Iran's longest range Missiles, Shahab-4, can travel 1200 miles. 1) Why would Iran attack Europe? 2) Iran's longest range missile could not even reach Prague in the Czech Republic! Missile Defense is most effective after a first strike is launched and a retalitory strike is expected. A step closer to World War III.
US King of moneywasting.
I doubt it. All the things are political posturing. The leaders are closer friends than they can let on.
Yeah, shields are used for attacking. Not too well versed on weaponry, are you?
