Fuel flow stops to the Carborator once the engine gets hot?

Ford - 351 Cleavland in 70 Mach 1 Mustang. Racing Fuel Cell in the trunk of the car. Fuel lines are insulated in the tight engine compartment. On hot days only, for some reason, the fuel pressure drops to the carb (guage shows down to .5 psi) - car wants to stall out. We've changed out the fuel pump twice and re-ran the fuel lines. Problem still exists please help. Any ideas are welcome.

vapor lock. the fuel is getting hot enough to evaporate and block the line with a vapor pocket. either that, or you're getting air in your system. make sure your fasteners are secure. make sure your line isn't running next to an exhaust manifold, or in your case, a header tube or collector. do you have a fuel pressure regulator near your carburetor. the closer it is the the carb, the better.
Hard to answer without seeing it however it sound as if you have a vacuum problem. I would double check all the lines and your PCV valve and your Idelle adjustment or vapor lock. Hope this helps.
you may attempt rerouting the gasoline lines remote from the block and exhaust manifold. perhaps positioned some protective fabric around the lines to assist disappate warmth or get better air circulating interior the engine compartment. you ought to also attempt a cooler thermostat that could help with the warm temperature and not in any respect mess with your emissions too a lot.
I had an old Ford that did this all the time. No one could figure it out until an old man should me a little trick. All he did was put a wooden clothes pin on the fuel line. The kind with a spring on in it. It keeps the line shacking and stop vapor lock. Believe it or not is up to you. But I had a dozen local garages and 2 dealers look at it and they couldn't stop it. Then this old guy did this and I thought yea right and 6 months later I took it off and got 1/4 mile down the road and it shut down. Put it back and it stayed there for at least 6 years and never had that again. O ps if your interested a freind of mine had this car when we were kids and still has fiber glass front fenders I know and some other parts up in the top of his barn we were just up there this weeken and they were hanging on the wall and he made the coment he had a couple of box's for that car over in the corner Good luck to you .O if you want these parts you have to give me a ride for old time's sake .Man did we have fun . Fuel cell vented properly? If vapor is the concern, a fuel pump with a return line may be the simplest answer - this will keep a fresh supply of fuel from the tank at the pump at all times it is running.
