Question:

getting a leopard gecko?

getting a leopard gecko?

Answer:

They all have their good and bad points. I love crested geckos simply because I think they are adorable! They are more expensive than the other two though. Their care is fairly easier than the others too in my opinion-- less demanding. Leopard geckos everyone will agree make really great first timer reptiles, or lizards. That's because they take well to regular handling and become quite docile. What I like about green anoles is that you can house more than one together and they don't require a big terrarium. The problem is that they are more of a show pet. They don't like being handled as much. I suggest you go with the Crested Gecko if you don't mind spending the extra money and want to be different than your brother.
ethier you die or put out fire and by more blankets
Are you getting a fat tailed gecko or a leopard gecko? They are two different species that require different needs. Leopards are desert and therefore need a dry enviornment with a moist retreat. For the moist retreat you should get a small container and put frog moss in it and keep it damp at all times. Have a hole just big enough so the leo can fit through it. You need to have an under the tank heater on one side of the tank. Put the moist retreat in the middle so it's half on the heater half off of it. They should also have a hide on the cool side of the tank. A 10 gallon is the smallest you can go with a leo but a 20 long is considerably better. They are very active at night and need more room then a 10 gallon. They do not need any uv lighting, so just buy a screen top for you tank. They need a warm side of about 90-93 degrees, if the under the tank heater doesn't get it warm enough you will also need a clamp lamp and bulb. Make sure to use calcium powder on the crickets and mealworms about 3 times a week and the vitamin powder about 3 times a week as well. Also, be sure to gut load the crickets and mealworms. If you are getting a fat tail most of this is the same.just be sure to mist the tank often because they need higher humidity then a leopard needs.
