Question:

goldfish wont eat, whats wrong?

im not sure if my goldfish is sick or not. i feed him regulary some goldfish flake food but he never eats it. it just floats to the botoom. also, he sometimes he just stops swimming and slowly drops to the bottom and floats above the gravel. i got him about a week ago and a few days ago i put him in an aquarium with plants, gravel, filter, and an air pump. his water gets cloudy really fast, does anyone know whats wrong? once i change the water, the next day its all foggy and cloudy

Answer:

Did you cycle the tank? How big is the tank? Goldfish need a big tank, ya know. If you want to cure him get a 10 gallon tank (about 30 bucks at walmart with a filter and gravel) and some prazi (order it from goldfishconnection n)
Well, to start, you didn't cycle your tank, which is very important when setting up a new aquarium. Second, a one gallon is atrociously small for a goldfish. A single goldfish should have a 20 gallon tank, with 10 gallons more for each additional goldfish, and should live about 10-20 years. Even with a filter in a 1 gallon, you will still have to do daily partial water changes, and even then, your fish's growth will still be stunted, which will only further reduce the quality of his health. He will be very lucky to live 1 or 2 years in those conditions, and it will not be a happy life. If you can, return your fish. Next time, find out how to care for your pet before you get it.
