Answer:

If the tires says MS (mud and snow) then they are considered snow tires. In some locations you might have to put on chains if they are not rated for snow.
It's not ideal but it can be done. Just realize the limitations of your summer or all-season tires and drive carefully. Make sure to leave lots of space between your vehicle and the vehicles in front of you.
You shouldn't but if it's just occasionally and you drive very slow and careful you should be fine. one tip: stay away from steep hills, you don't wanna be in a cars on ice compilation on youtube If you're planning on driving all winter I suggest get some studded tires or at least snow tires (you can use snow tires in the summer as well)
even hard wired smoke alarms have a battery ! Pull the face plate off and I think you will find a battery.
It depends on if you can avoid hills. If the land is flat, than sure. But on hills you would want studs or chains. You will find snow tires make almost no difference. But studs and chains are a huge difference. But be warned that most chains are only rated for like 30 mph. Studs are any speed. Get a pair of salvage rims and have the studded rubber mounted on them, so that you can easily change tires yourself. Studs are bad for the road when dry.
