swords of revealing light is banned in official duels. if you're just playing with a friend then big shield gardna'a effect still takes place even with swords of revealing light out. swords of revealing light stops your opponent from attacking, they can still change battle positions of their monsters. one version of the card says that face down monsters must be flipped but remain in defense position, this doesnt mean they cant change battle position, it just means that face down monsters are flipped but do not go into attack position like in a normal flip summon
You could fill the area in with gravel and still open the gate and stop the dog from getting under. Also you could attach a flap to the bottom of the gate. I have seen this done with conveyor belt material. If your going to build a speed bump you could make a form and fill it with concrete. This is the more expensive method.
