If your talking about a light switch you don't need a ground. If you want ground protection for an outlet you can use a groundfault rececptacle. Work Safe
If the box is metal and grounded then the switch is also because it is screwed to it
Adding ground wire would be a simple fix. Chances are, if your switch does not have a ground, niether does your outlets and lighting fixtures. Simple fix, and safer.
