I watched a locksmith pull the lock cylinder using a dent puller. The new cylinder went right in, and the whole operation took less than 30 seconds. I paid about $40 plus the price of the part, so I would recommend seeing a locksmith instead of messing with it yourself.
If it is a water or foam extinguisher the nozzles overhead would be opened by the heat of the fire and the water or foam would come out. A CO2 extinguisher would cover the area with carbon dioxide, killing the fire.
