Question:

Hazard using a cell phone during aircraft fueling?

I assume there is potential hazard for static during aircraft fuelingwhile using a cell phone, eventhough the fuel truck is grounded?Well I work at an airport in Southern California as a ramp agent.Today, i saw a fueler occupied fueling a 737-400 from the right, and talkingon his cell phone at once. He eventually caused the left wingto overfill and created a huge mess on the tarmac. Passengerswe're boarding the airplane as this happened. Doesn't cell phone use carry a potential hazard for static ignition of the fuel vapors?

Answer:

Mr. Marcos - you are a liar - Fueling of a 737 (any type) has a automatic fuel level shutoff - What you describe is impossible - He probably was using his mobile - yes - not very smart - But if he followed proper fueling procedures, there was no spilling - If procedures are not followed, no fuel goes to the tanks - Next subject?
