Question:

Heat/Insulation question?

I live in MichiganRight now it is 34 degrees outside.so it is cold but my heat kicks on 2 minutes after it shuts off to keep my house at 70 degreesThe house is a 1 story ranch, no basement, only 1,100 sqfeetDoes it sound kind of ridiculous that my heat is on every 2 minutes? It is a rental home so I can't insulate it, but I wonder if it is not insulatedThere is no attic the house is on a slab (very cold floors) The house seems very badly constructed last Febmy heat bill for 1 mowas 400 dollars just keeping the heat at 60I keep it at 70 now b/c I have a baby now.

It sounds like you don't have any insulation in that houseWith the price of oil, and gas will follow for some reason and electricity as well to be real high this yearIf you are not bound by a lease I would look some where else to live Winter is not even here and your house is coldAsk the owner to insulate or find a new homeA problem like this and a lawyer, plus a baby, I think you can get out of a leaseYou could cover the window with plastic, weather strip the doors and maybe turn the heat down a littleWhy should youDid you live there for a full winter last year?
