Question:

Help identifying a part?

I need to replace a part that my garden hose attaches to. I'm not sure of the name, but I think it's called a hose bib (?). To make it easier, I've taken pictures (

Answer:

Yes, they do. They need to be taken apart every so many years (I think every 5) and some parts need to be replaced. Also, certain brands are better than others. You can bring it to a fire extinguisher company and they check them out. If it is just a regular inspection, the cost should be about $5. Rebuilding costs on a little less than buying new.
in larger departments, most everyone starts their fire service career on the nozzle. After you've passed your probationary and rookie periods, and you've proven yourself, you can request a transfer to the ladder or rescue companies where you can reform other jobs such as ventilation, forcible entry, search and rescue, and extrication. In a smaller department, you pretty mush do a little bit of everything. You'll end up doing what ever needs doing at the time.
