Answer:

i know constipation is one of the symptoms, but as far as any other health side effects, i don't know for sure
You should notice a piston which is what pushes the brake pad up against the rotor. It must be squeezed or pried or pushed all the way back into itself before new brake pads will fit. Take the top of your brake cylinder off because as you push the piston back, you are reversing the flow of brake fluid and it needs to have someplace to go. It can be hard to get that piston to go back in there, but your new brakes won't fit until you do.
You need to get a c clamp and use it to open the caliper (push the piston in) so it will fit because the new brake pads are thicker than the old ones. Be careful letting brake fluid spill over out of the master cylinder. It will catch fire if it falls on the exhaust or something hot enough.
Gently but firmly push the piston back in. It should be almost flush with the housing. Be careful not to tear the rubber dust seal. A couple of blocks of wood might help. The whole assembly floats on the mounting bolts. Push the sleaves back in position once again taking care not to damage the rubber dust seals. Keep an eye on the brake fluid resevoir to make sure that it doesn't overflow. Don
