I'm 17 years old and a guy at school punched me (purposely.) and my head is busted open. I'm pressing charges against him. Would we have to go to court?
For semantics only the District Attorney presses charges you can file a report. The police investigate then the DA decides if it is worth pursuing. If the suspect decides to go to trial then yes, he has a right to confront his accuser in court. This means you may have to go to court. In most cases the DA will offer a plea deal and avoid court.
