Hand knits do tend to roll a little depending on the thickness of the material and type of yarn usedOne thing that can be done with natural fibers is blockingBlocking is the process of wetting the yarn and reshaping it How to spray block: This is the easiest way to gently block an itemLay the scarf out on a towel and pin it into the shape you want, in this case a rectangleWith a spray bottle and warm water, spray the scarf until it is dampAllow it to dry completely through while pinned in shape and it should retain the rectangle shape betterHow to wet block: In the sink or in a wash bucket, add enough warm to hot water to cover the itemAdd the item and gently submerge itDo not agitate or it will felt and shrinkOnce soaked through, gently drain off the water pressing the scarf to the bottom of the sink or bucketWrap the item in a towel and gently squeeze out as much water as possible without twistingRolling in a towel works wellTake the scarf and lay it out on a dry towel and pin it in place in the shape you want, in this case a rectangleAllow it to dry at least 24 hoursThis should help it retain a more rectangular shape.
