Question:

HF will eat most anything... except plastic?

Why is this so?Is it a special plastic? What's plastic made of.. and what makes it so special? Can HCl do the same things as HF?What can quot;changequot; plastic? like what eats at it.What makes a strong acid/base quot;strongquot;?and/or weak?

Answer:

hcl is an acid like hf so the have almost the same chemical property all acids dont react with plastics [any] but do react wit h metal to give hydrogen gas and a salt
plastic is made of long chains of Carbon atoms connected by strong covalent bonds there is no unsaturation for HF to be added strength of an acid depends of extent of ionization if it is more then its strong otherwise its weak Florine eats everything i mean more than HF
