Question:

Is there a wrong way to install resistors and inductors?

Hi, and thanks for looking at my question. I am building a hobby FM transmittor from a PC board kit. I wanted to know if there is a wrong and right way to install Resistors and inductors before i solder any more components. thanks i know i have the right components in the right place, i just need to know if the polarity/orientation matters with these two components.

Answer:

Resistors and inductors are not polarized components, though some of the inductors in a transmitter may be transformers with four or more connections to the coils, and in that case they do need to be connected the right way round. With color coded components like resistors, orienting them so the color bands are all the same way round makes the board look neater, and the values are easier to read later on if you need to do any troubleshooting. But they work just as well if you don't bother to do that.
no dear its the same both ways
Nope. Either direction works.
no, Rs and Ls have no polarity. Put placement of components at frequencies that high is very critical. A lead that is 1/4 inch too long can add significant capacitance and inductance to the circuit and cause it to behave differently. .
