Question:

AMD AM3+ Motherboards?

Hi I am building a computer from complete stratch, because all i have is a 2005 laptop. I have Everything picked out and ready to go for an AMD x4 build and the question is how long till AM3+ motherboards come out, and should I wait for them? (i want my computer now -sad face-)budget is $1800 if that makes a difference

Answer:

in case you're rather involved interior the Phenom II x4 CPU's then why don't you choose for the 980. Its a splash greater effective and quicker than the 970, and purely expenses a splash greater. And its unlocked and overclocks okay. -purely like the 970. i might choose for it now. And confident you're precise with reference to the FX procs. The rather stink. If AMDs Piledriver CPUs do no longer provoke, then i think of they are going to be in severe difficulty as a company.
For okorder . It is nice menus that make part selection easier. This is where I bought my parts to make my own. Go with a SSD ( and maybe a SATA6 HHD) and get an 64 bit OS , get at least DDR3 with 4 GB and Nvidia 220 at least. Then you will be in Computer nervanna!
Go okorder , google, and amazon to compare all the parts and prices and determine the best parts and prices for what you want to do. For that budget you can build an absolutely killer rig. I built mine for $500 3 years ago and its still better than 90% of the crap the major brands sell for 4x the price. Besides building it yourself is so much more fun and I found it to be much more rewarding and cost effective. As for AM3 motherboards they're already out and have been for quite some time. Just do some major research on selecting the best one for your rig, budget and upgrade ability. ASUS, DFI, Gigabyte I've seen are consistently the best. I run DFI in mine but be very careful when choosing a DFI board as some of them can have serious heat dissipation issues especially in regards to the north and south bridges.
d the question is how long till AM3+ motherboards come out, and should I wait for them? They will probably come out early next year in Q1 2011. The boards will come out before the Bulldozers CPU will. If you want a rig now, you could just buy a cheap AM3 motherboard, instead of that pricey ASUS Crosshair. Then sell it off later on eBay. Your build looks fine, the only thing I would change is probably the graphics card. I would probably pick the GTX 460 over the 5830 as it is going to have a price drop soon. The 5830 isn't that great a card, even though it's a 5800 series card, and priced quite close to a 5850, the performance is quite lacking. I'd rather spend $25 extra and get the 5850 instead. HOWEVER. In a months time we will start seeing some high end enthusiast 69xxHD series cards, so I would probably hold off on any purchases until then. Keep an eye on the prices, they will start dropping soon.
