Question:

Hi, I need some opinions and advice about flashing or sealing an aluminum pan roof attached to a wood.?

fascia board on an apartment that has an asphalt shingle roofWhere the aluminum pan roof is attached to the wood fascia it's leakingThe eve drip on the apartment is steel and the pan roof is aluminumI was thinking about putting an L shaped piece of flashing under the eve drip flashing down onto the aluminum pan roofBoth are old and dirty and I'm wandering how to properly clean and seal the flashingI'm assuming caulk but I'm not sureAny good ideas or opinions on how I might go about this? Hope someone could give some advice.

Answer:

bobbin spool if ur talking about a sowing machine i think bobbin spools i dont remember exactly
That would be a spindleMost of them are either top whorl or bottom whorl drop spindles, at least for hand useThe whorl is simple the weight that makes the whole thing work, and top or bottom refers to which end it's onThey're relatively easy to make if you have a wood working friend, and I've also seen some made from a CD and a dowel (never tried that one) For instructions or references, look up hand spinningThere's lots of books on it.
you're right on about the L flashing, i would reccomend a peel and stick membrane as a sealerclean the area with soap and water, slip your L flashing under the drip edge then fasten it to the aluminum roof with some short pan head screwsthen, you can get peel and stick at one of the big boxes(home depot, lowes), they even sell smaller rolls for flashing around windows, this should be perfect for youjust peel the back and stick over the bottom part of your L and make sure it sticks on the aluminum at least 6 inches but no more than ten inchesif you have some kind of roller, roll out the membrane after you stick itif you don't, just step on it good all overwhen buying the peel and stick look for the brand name grace it's the best but others will do fineyou could caulk the overlap where the drip edge and L meet if it's not tight and if you have walls or a wall on either side, this same method will work there toothis is not a permanent fix but neither are your roofsdone right tho, it should easily last till your next re-roofgood luck!
